- **Role Overview**:
- As the Assistant Engineering Manager / Duty Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for our engineering department. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will balance leadership with hands-on technical execution, ensuring the hotel's infrastructure—from guest rooms to high-volume commercial kitchens—operates at peak efficiency. This is a "player-coach" role designed for a technically proficient professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys the challenge of maintaining a world-class property.
- **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Ensure Operational Excellence:** Oversee all maintenance issues within the hotel, conducting daily checks and proactively repairing fixtures and fittings to ensure 100% operational uptime and guest safety.
- **Technical Troubleshooting:** Personally diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, with a specific focus on guest room fixtures and commercial kitchen/laundry equipment.
- **BMS Management:** Operate and monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) to optimize the hotel environment and energy efficiency.
- **Team Leadership:** Supervise and mentor a small team of technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring high standards of workmanship across the department.
- **Safety & Compliance:** Lead emergency programs (including lift release procedures) and ensure all monthly safety inspections and health and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- **Vendor Coordination:** Manage relationships with external contractors and vendors to ensure quality work and cost-effective maintenance solutions.
- **Requirements**:
- **Minimum/Core Requirements:**
- Possession of a valid Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) certification is mandatory for this role to perform and sign off on essential electrical works.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in building maintenance, specifically with guest room fixtures and commercial kitchen/laundry equipment.
- Proven proficiency in operating and troubleshooting Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Strong commitment to service excellence with professional grooming standards appropriate for a global hospitality brand.
- Ability to work on a rotating shift basis and remain on-call for emergency responses to ensure 24/7 hotel uptime.
- Effective communication skills in English to liaise with guests and internal stakeholders.
- **Preferred/Bonus Requirements:**
- Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a hospitality or high-traffic commercial environment.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred to facilitate effective communication and coordination with specific Mandarin-speaking vendors and team members.
- Valid First Aid Certification.
